Angelo M. Horne

Angelo M. Horne, 53 , of Rock Island, passed away on  Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at his home.  A funeral service for Angelo will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Angelo Martinez Horne was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 23, 1963 to Annette (Brown) Horne and Calvin Garner.  He attended Raster Elementary School, Dyvette Junior High, and Harper High School on Chicago's South Side, where he met the love of his life, Barbara (Bobbi) Crawford.  At the age of 15, Angelo started working at McDonalds to help provide for his younger siblings when his mother became ill. 

In 1988, Angelo and Bobbi moved to Rock Island, IL.  Angelo worked for Hardee's, United Cerebral Palsy and Century Woods before becoming a manager at McDonald's, where he worked for many years and was known as one of the most dedicated managers of the company.

When he became ill, he continued to work, care for his family and spend time with his friends.  Angelo, known by his friends as "Low-down," will be remembered for his bar-b-ques, playing dominoes, fishing and "talking stuff."  After battling illness for many years, he peacefully took his rest on June 7, 2017.  He will be missed by his family, co-workers and many friends.

Angelo was preceded in death by his mother, Annette; his grandmother, Dorothy; grandfather, Y.C. Garner; brother, Ricardo; sister, Rhonda; a son, Angelo, Jr.; a grandson, Rashawn, Jr.; and a nephew, Kevin.

He leaves to cherish his memory:  his wife, Barbara Crawford - Horne; his father, Calvin (Adrienne) Garner, his daughters, Antionette and Donisha Crawford, and his sons, Alonzo Horne and LeVar (April) Crawford.  He will be missed and remembered by his sisters; Carolyn (Linda) Horne, Carmelita (Curtis) Horne-Reed, Tequilla (Timothy) Horne-Newsone, Terry (David) Kelly, Chicago, Monica (Dusty) Brooks, Chicago, Adrienne Garner and Kesha Lyons; and his brothers, Wendell Horne, Felipa Horne, Martinez (Mary) Horne, Young Calvin Garner, Jr. and Calvin Hardwick, Chicago.  Angelo was deeply loved by his nine grandchildren; Dishamere, LaShawn, Mykia, O'Mirrah, Nasir, Da'Vayah, LeVar, Jr., Ivy and Lamar; his mother-in-law, Martha Crawford, 6 brothers in law, 6 sisters in law, 35 nieces and nephews, and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.  He will be sadly missed by his best friend Maurice Stewart, and his dog Blackie
