Beth N. Hudson, 98, and 58 year resident of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Silver Cross Pavilion at Friendship Manor, Rock Island. Beth resided with her daughter, Jeri Bolis and Jim Barnette for 2 1/2 years before her stay at Friendship Manor. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, with Pastor Scott Wilson officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice. Beth was born in Stockport, Iowa on July 18, 1918, a daughter of Aura Duane and Bonnie Loyce McKee Nixon. She married Verne Anderson on January 25, 1939. She later married Cecil Wasson Hudson on June 27, 1943 in Kahoka, Mo. They were married for 46 years until Cecil passed on July 28, 1989. Beth grew up in Stockport, Iowa where she graduated high school. She worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant just outside of Burlington until her marriage to Cecil. They lived in Galesburg until 1959 when they moved to Rock Island. Beth was a stay at home mom and did ironing for others. Several years were spent as a pre-school assistant for Rock Island Parks and Recreation. Beth loved playing games with her children, gardening, yard work, making puzzles and working crossword puzzles. Beth also loved going to BINGO with her friends. Spending time with her family was her life! Beth was a member of the First Christian Church in Stockport, Iowa. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Terry (Martha) Hudson, Galesburg, Rodney (Peggy) Hudson, Sanford, N.C., Rickey Hudson, Stanwood, Wash., Alan Hudson, Davenport and Jeri (Jim Barnette) Bolis, Milan; grandchildren, Christine Hudson, Nikki Hudson, William (Michelle) Hudson, Heather (Adrian) Ritchie, Nathan Hudson, Matt (Shelby) Hudson, Jay (Kim) Bolis and Julie (Phil) Connelly; and great-grandchildren, Riley, Greta, Heidi and Adler Hudson, Bryce and Kiya Ritchie, Abigail Hudson, Brooke Bolis and Tatum and Hudson Connelly. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Duane, brothers Webb and Fred Nixon, sisters, Telma Edwards and Emma Jane Bradfield and twin infant siblings at birth. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at Friendship Manor for all of their compassionate care and support!
