Clair Stuart Rursch, 74, of Taylor Ridge, died Friday, December 15, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.  Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan.  Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Edgington Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Clair was born at home on February 24, 1943 in Rock Island County, a son of Addison and Edith Johnston Rursch.  He was part of the first graduating class that completed all the high school grades at Rockridge Senior High School.  He also graduated from the former American Institute of Commerce in Davenport. 

He was united in marriage to the former Shirley Puck on October 24, 1970 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Davenport.

Clair farmed and worked in the agricultural field for many years.  He last worked for Per Mar Security as a guard at Group O in Milan and retired January 1, 2017 due to health reasons.

He enjoyed watching old westerns, especially John Wayne and Walker Texas Ranger, traditional country music, Nascar – Dale Earnhardt Jr., anything John Deere and eating out with family and friends, especially at Harlans for chicken and noodles.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 47 years, Shirley Rursch, Taylor Ridge; children, Randy (Sue) Rursch, Milan and Russell Rursch, Rock Island; two grandsons, Nick (Nicole) and Steven Leingang; two great-grandsons, Aidan and Lucas; brothers, Orville (Nancy) Rursch, Marvin (Denise) Rursch, Donald (JoAnn) Rursch and John Robert (Dorothy) Rursch; special friend of the family, Dion Baal; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews as well as the Arp cousins-in-law and friends and fellow co-workers of Group O.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Barbara Rursch and sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Nels Anderson.
