Constance J. (Brandt) Meyer

             Constance J. Meyer, 80, of Rock Island, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 at UPH-Trinity Rock Island.

              A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 pm on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Quad City Botanical Center, 2525 4th Ave., Rock Island.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service.  The gardens will be open to guests following the service.             Constance was born on August 11, 1936 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Edwin and Margaret (Kopp) Brandt.  She married William H. Meyer on November 26, 1958 in Chicago, IL.  Constance was an elementary school teacher for the Moline School District, retiring in 2000.  She graduated from Northwestern University in 1958 with her Bachelor's degree in Education, and received her Master's degree from Western Illinois University in 1985. 

            Constance was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Quad Cities, Davenport since 1965.  She was a past president of The Blackhawk Unit of IRTA and the AAUW.  Constance was a member of MEA, IEA, NEA, AAUW, Delta Kappa Gamma, Delta Epsilon, Celiac Support  Association (C.S.A.), and a friend of the Rock Island library.  She enjoyed her weekly fitness classes and field trips with  R.I.F.A.C.

            Constance is survived by her children, Russell Meyer and Natalie Casper; her grandchildren, Nicole Dresen (Tim), Benjamin Meyer (Morgan), Daniel Meyer (Cori), Nicolas Meyer, Jack Meyer, Kelsey Stolzer, and Alex Huber; and her brother, Gary Brandt (Betsy Teeter). She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Richard Brandt.
