We just learned of Connie's death on her birthday, August 11. Since meeting her at Schurz High School in Chicago, Connie and I shared a joint birthday celebration because we were born one day apart and considered that a special coincidence. Connie and I also attended Northwestern University together and knew my husband too. She was a bridesmaid in our wedding, which might not have happened if it weren't for a stern pep talk from Connie. Connie's work with gifted children was impressive but then she was "gifted" herself in so many ways ---her music, her photography, her talent with words, her love of people.. My husband, Dick, in 2015 reconnected with Connie at the Bix Festival where she was honored for her long attendance at the Festival. He saw her again there in 2016. We shall miss her. Our deepest condolences to her family.

I met Connie five years ago. She was a dedicated volunteer and cheerful advisor to the Quad Cities Celiac Group. She helped so many of us when we were newly diagnosed. Connie was a joy to everyone who knew her and will be dearly missed.

In recent years I enjoyed seeing Connie at the Bix Jazz fest and talking with her about other jazz fests she had been going to. She will definitely be missed by my wife and me.

So sorry to hear of Connie's passing. I knew her as a client from my days as a Branch Manager at National City Bank in Rock Island. I loved visiting with her and catching up with all that she was involved in. She was a neat lady and will be missed by many.

I taught at Roosevelt at the same time as Connie. I also enjoyed visiting with her at the AAUW meetings. It is hard to believe that she will not be there anymore. She will be greatly missed.

Connie was a dear woman who was smart and caring. I met her through AAUW. She did a lot for the organization, and always had the big smile that is shown in her photograph. She had a lot of physical difficulties, but they never prevented her from reaching out to others and being involved. News of her death was a shock to all. It seems we saw each other so recently and she was all smiles. We will miss her at AAUW. We are thinking of you Connie.

Connie's legacy will continue in all of the students that she touched with her guidance and love of teaching. We were blessed to have her in our lives as she taught two of my children at Roosevelt. (my son's birthday was the 12th ..:(. She was so instrumental in the Pull Out Gifted Program and then helped the Moline Council of the Gifted get the PATS program started and always was there as a friend, too. We were honored when she came to my kids' graduation parties from high school, college and wedding. What a wonderful person. She will be missed. My deepest sympathies to her family

I will miss seeing and sharing with Connie at Black Hawk Unit Retired Teacher's meetings, at the Salvation Army meal site where she always dished out the peaches, and as part of my UU church hospitality team where she faithfully brought non-gluten treats to share. I was very sad to learn of her passing in today's paper! I just saw her June 7th, smiling as she helped with the name tags for retired teachers meeting! She was always interested in our Rock Island community and came along for the tour of the new Police Station. I will miss her.
