Delores M. Gonzalez, 88, of Milan, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice, Bettendorf.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan.  Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory ,201 4th Ave. E., Milan, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.  and a Memorial Ceremony will be performed by the VFW Ladies' Auxiliary Post 8890.  Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.  Memorials may be to the family for a memorial fund to be established later. 

Delores was born on March 30, 1928 in DePue, IL , a daughter of Socorro and Cruz Medina Alvarez .  She married Ruben A. Gonzalez on February 21, 1948 in Muscatine.  Ruben passed away on April 13, 2012.  Delores was a homemaker for her husband and children.  She welcomed others into her home and made certain that they didn't leave hungry.  If you couldn't find what you wanted to eat; she would make it.   Delores was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan, VFW Women's Auxilliary Post 8890, and the Alcoa Retirees Club.  She had a great love for travel and spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert (Sandra) Gonzalez, Richard Gonzalez, and Denise (Daniel) Vallejo, all of Milan; grandchildren, Doug (Denise) Gonzalez, Chicago, Deana (Brian) Christensen of McKinney, Texas, Dennis (Tisha) Gonzalez, Milan, Tara (Dustin) Thor, Rock Island, Derek Gonzalez, Moline, Ryan (Jamie) Gonzalez, Hampton, Ill., Jason (Jennifer) Vallejo, Belton, MO., Daniel Vallejo, Ankeny, Iowa; Melanie Newman and Amy Balluff, San Antonio, TX and Charlie (Ashley) Balluff, Davenport, Iowa; 27 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lucy Luna-Terronez, Hilda English, Joseph Medina, Rudy Alvarez, Antonio Alvarez, Carmen Alvarez and Lupe Alvarez; along with many other family members and friends.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben; her parents; infant daughters, Marcella and Terry Gonzalez; sons, Vernie and Roy Gonzalez; brothers, Fernando and Adolph Alvarez; sister, Carmen Hernandez-Picon and granddaughter in law, Molly Vallejo

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Delores' sister, Lucy, for her love and care through Delores' illness.
