Dorothy R. Simmons

Dorothy R. Simmons, 78, of Milan, IL, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 at her home.

 As per her wishes, cremation disposition will be accorded and no services are planned. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to either the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.

 Dorothy was born April 16, 1938 in Rock Island, IL, a daughter of Clifford and Velma Fisher Sisco. She married William L. Simmons on May 16, 1966 in Rock Island.

 In earlier years, Dorothy was employed at Servus Rubber, Rock Island. Following her marriage, she was a devoted wife, mother , and homemaker for her family. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all.

 She enjoyed spending winters in Texas with William, where they enjoyed hitting all the flea markets and fishing. She also enjoyed camping with family and friends in Alpha, IL. Dorothy was passionate about going to yard sales and growing flowers at home. Her favorite pastime was spoiling her grandchildren.

 Surviving  are her husband, William, of Milan; children (and spouses), Sadie Carlson, New Windsor, Bill (Joyce) Simmons, Illinois City, John (Kathy) Simmons, Kansas, OK, Scott (Karen) Milan, and Kurt (Jeanette) Simmons, Alexis, IL; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; sister, Darlene Dunn, Spokane, WA; brothers, Harry Sisco, Anamosa, IA, Calvin (Sue) Sisco, Payson, UT, and Clarence (Chris) Sisco, Norriton, PA; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her; mother and father; son, Kevin; son-in-law, Paul Carlson; brother, Harold Sisco; and sister, Florence Jinks.
