      Ernest Fuhr II, 76, of Taylor Ridge, peacefully passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the Clarissa C. Cook   Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa surrounded by his family.

      Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Edgington   Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Edgington, Illinois.  Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, where the Andalusia Masonic Lodge #516 brethren AF&AM will be conducting a Masonic funeral service at 7 pm.  Burial will be at the Edgington Cemetery, Edgington, IL.  Memorials may be made to the Andalusia Masonic Lodge #516 AF&AM or the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa. 

      Ernest Fuhr II was born on July 6, 1940 to Walter T. and Eva Powell Fuhr.  Ernie attended Reynolds High School and he was a member of the the first Senior class to graduate from Rockridge High School in 1958. Ernie farmed with his family members in the Edgington area for his entire life and he also enjoyed a successful career with the Illinois Secretary of State Police, where he worked as a Police Investigator for 33.3 years, retiring in 1997.  Ernie married Sally Jo Roesner (Colona, IL) on September 11, 1965 in Nashua, IA at the Little Brown Church.  He was an accomplished high power rifle shooter, lifetime member of the NRA, member of the Illinois State Rifle Association and a certified range officer and handgun training instructor for the Illinois Secretary of State Police during his career.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, many outdoor activities as well as time he shared with family. He loved dogs.

      He was a 50 year member of the Edgington Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where he served as a trustee and deacon in the church. Ernie and Sally were also members of the Trinity United Methodist Church, and he enjoyed Sunday School at the Andalusia Community Baptist Church.

      Ernie was also a member of the Andalusia and Buffalo Prairie Masonic Lodges and the Andalusia Eastern Star.  He was a former District Deputy Masonic Grand Master of the 13th Northern District and he served as Master of his Masonic Lodge no fewer than six times.  Ernie was a proud Mason and he dedicated his life to both Freemasonry and Illinois law enforcement.

      Ernie is survived by his wife, Sally Fuhr; children, Ernest N. (Stephanie) Fuhr III, Ben (Jenn Hull) Fuhr, and Bill (Carrie) Fuhr; grandchildren, Madeline and Will Fuhr; brother, Allan (Janet) Fuhr; sister, Nancy (Jim) Cooksey; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by both his parents and his grandparents, Ernest and Nancy Fuhr and Sherman and Margaret Powell. 

      The Fuhr family would like to especially thank Dr. Mohammed I. Rajput (Aledo, IL) for his professionalism, his honesty and his many years of friendship.  The family would also like to give a special thank you to the entire staff of the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House for their hospitality, kindness, compassion and the care they gave to the family and Ernie during his short stay.
