Gene was my friend and neighbor at the river for almost 40 years.. I would still see him drive down and get his mail regularly. He had a great sense of humor and lived a full and interesting life. We will miss him.

Some people in life get the opportunity to have more than one Dad in their lives & Gene was one of mine & Barbie's. Him & my Aunt Bev opened up their home to us when we were little & going from having two kids to four didn't seem to bother him at all. He taught us so much & treated us as if we were the daughters' that he didn't have. He taught us how to fish & we lived on the Rock River so there was a lot of that. We even loved to sit & watch him clean them. I think the time that we spent there is where we got our tomboy traits. He loved to smoke fish & in my whole life I have never tasted any that was as good as his. I would run into him throughout my life & it was always a joy to talk to him. That's what memories are made of. RIP Uncle Gene. Our thoughts & prayers are with with you all.
