Gustave "Gus" L. Sims

Gustave “Gus” L. Sims, 74, of Milan, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at his home.  A Memorial Visitation for Gus will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 4^th Ave. E, Milan.  Graveside services with military honors will follow the visitation at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.  Those wishing to attend Graveside services should meet at the funeral home to form the procession by 1 p.m.  Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.

Gus was born on November 16, 1943 in Moline, a son of E. Dean and Margaret E. (Anderson) Sims.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.  Gus married Patricia E. Hess on May 26, 1971 in Galesburg.  He worked as a crib tender at Farmall, retiring after 23 years.  He enjoyed spending time with family, following his children and grandchildren’s sporting events, motocross and stock car racing, collecting aluminum cans, working with his hands and repairing small engines.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia; children, Danny W. Sims, Pamela S. Sims, Davenport and Travis Sims, Rock Island; grandchildren, Austin and Gracie Rose Sims; great granddaughter, Kadence Sims; an aunt, Mary L. Sims, Rock Island, and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Ronald and Raymond Sims
