Imogean Carrell, 97, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at her daughter and son-in-law’s residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.
Imogean was born March 5, 1920 in Grand Chain, IL, the daughter of Ernest and Josie (Flenoi) Johnson. She married Douglas Carrell on August 20, 1938 in Jackson, MO, he preceded her in death. In 1974 she retired from the East Moline State Mental Hospital as a housekeeper. Imogean was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Rock Island and was a member of the Missionary Department``204. She was a former member of the ACTIVE Senior Club at the King Center. Imogean was an avid bowler and enjoyed gardening and flowers.
Imogean is survived by her children, Shirley (Elmer) Smith, Michael (Miko) Carrell, Gil Carrell, all of Rock Island, Wilma (Eddie) Harris, Mt. Vernon, NY, Merlyn (John) Wright, Aurora, CO, and Douglas (Erlinda) Carrell, Virginia Beach, VA; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Carrell; parents; son, Curtis Leon Carrell; and daughters, Saundra Teagues and Jill Carrell.
