Joyce Lexa Spengler

Joyce Lexa Spengler, 69, of Boynton Beach, FL., formerly of Sherrard, IL passed away March 6, 2018 in Boynton Beach, FL.

Services will be 10:00 am Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 801 W Edgington Street, Reynolds, IL.  Burial will be in Buffalo Prairie Cemetery, Buffalo Prairie, IL.  Visitation will be 5:00pm to 7:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Viola Food Pantry or to Buffalo Prairie Cemetery.

Joyce was born in Muscatine, Iowa on October 5, 1948, a daughter of Garth Kistler and Eileen Whitney Kistler.  Her father passed away in 1949, and she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Don Hampton.  Joyce graduated as Valedictorian from Sherrard High School.  She was married to John Spengler on February 26, 1967.

Joyce had a long, rewarding career in banking serving first for the First National Bank of Aledo, State Bank of Lantana, First Union, Community Bank in Broward, Campbell Associates, etc.  She was an active member of ZONTA International for many years and a very active member of Community of Hope Church, West Palm Beach, FL.

She had a passion for boating, hiking, travel, church, and her family and friends.  She will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by:  John Spengler, brother Al (Denise) Hampton, Stepfather Don Hampton, nephews and niece, Jon Hampton, Lindsey (Tommy) Adams and Jim (Stephanie) Hampton; great nephews and great nieces, Lane, Ellie, Garen, Claire, and Brody; Goddaughter, Tracy Delmar; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and friends, Larry (Cheryl) Spengler, Tom (Janet) Spengler and Jan (Gary) Dochterman.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Garth Kistler and mother, Eileen Hampton, as well as several aunts and uncles.
