Lawrence H. Howell

Lawrence H. Howell, 69, of Milan, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at his home. Services for Mr. Howell will be 11 am, Tuesday at  Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorial may be made to the family.

Larry was born on September 21, 1947 in Rock Island, a son of Homer and Delores Mockmore Howell. He married Pamela McGonigle on January 20, 1968. She preceded him in death on January 13, 1989. Larry later married Shelley Paaske on August 8, 1992 in Milan. Larry worked as a machinist at Case IH, Rock Island many years until his retirement. He had been a fire fighter for the Blackhawk Fire Protection District for over 24 years. Larry enjoyed camping, NASCAR and dirt track racing.

Survivors include his wife, Shelley; daughter, Denise (Rob) Gengler, Milan; step children, Derek Hamilton, Ashly Hamilton and Garrett (Kelcy) Hamilton, all of Eldridge; grandchildren, Anna, Luke and Liam; siblings, Terry (Kathy) Howell, Coal Valley, Dave (Sue) Howell, Tucson, AZ., Phyllis Moskowitz, Geneseo, Deb Howell, Aledo and Wanda Moorman, Mediapolis, IA; mother in law and father in law, Barb and Jack Paaske, Eldridge.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Pamela; siblings, Carol Howell, Ray Howell, Albert Howell and Ellen Daly.
