Marion J. Peterson, 94, of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at her residence.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island..
Marion was born on July 8, 1923 in Moline, the daughter of Walter and Margaret (Braem) Yager. She married Harry Peterson on August 24, 1946 in Moline. Marion enjoyed landscaping, watching birds, and was an avid scrabble player. Her biggest love was spending time with her family especially hosting the gatherings. Marion's favorite spot to have the gathering was their cabin on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Marion is survived by her husband, Harry Peterson; children, Deborah (James) Braet, Christine (Saad) Ahmed, Bruce (Sherry) Peterson, Pamela (Stephen) Saunders, Nan Hasenberg, Thomas (Phyllis) Peterson, and James (Jennifer) Peterson; grandchildren, Kristin (Jeff) Stiefvater and their children Hayes and Abby, Craig (Kelly) Braet and their children Katelyn, Kelsey, and Clayton, Noah (Rachel) Ahmed, Kyle (Divya) Peterson and their children Shiv, Dhruv and one on the way, Brett Peterson, Todd (Emily) Peterson with their son Jensen, Kina Peterson, Fuzzy (Liz) Saunders with their children Alaina and Jack, Cameron Saunders, Bryan Saunders, Alison (Nick) Boisvert, Luke Hasenberg, Lisa Hasenberg, Emily Peterson, Matthew Peterson, Elias (Sarah) Peterson and they have one on the way, and Brady, Sam, and Will Peterson; sister, Margaret Mangelsdorf; numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; life long friend, Margaret Bergstrom; and devoted caregiver, Nancy Patton. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William Yager; sister, Phyllis Miller; and half sister, Dorothy Welch.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Unity Point Hospice for the peace, comfort, and care they gave through this process.
