Milton Chandler

Milton Chandler, 63, of Rock Island, departed his life Saturday, April 8, 2017 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity, Rock Island.  Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Greater Antioch Baptist Church, Rock Island.  Visitation will be from 9 - 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.  Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport.  Memorials may be made in care of the family.  Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, is assisting the family.

Milton was born in Osceola, Ark. on October 28, 1953, a son of Joseph and Mary Louise Hudson Chandler.  He was the 7th of twelve children and the fourth of six boys.

Milton graduated from Osceola High School, class of 1971.  Following high school, he was united in marriage to the lovely Doris Jean Campbell.  Two boys were born of this union, Darren Durrell "Dickie" Chandler and Joseph Franklin "Wannie" Chandler. 

Milton left Arkansas as a young man and relocated to Rock Island.  He worked at John Deere Harvester Works, 7-11, the Kwik Shop and Wendy's, retiring in January of 2016.

Milton enjoyed listening to music, watching westerns and entertaining his friends at home.  He thoroughly enjoyed taking care of his children and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory are his special friend, Patricia Stennis, Indiana; sons, Darren (Diane Brown) Chandler, Rock Island and Joseph (Starshanda) Chandler, East Moline; grandchildren, Tayvion, Makayla, Jovon and Jayvin Chandler; sisters, Shirley (William) Chandler Powell, Memphis, Tenn., Theresa (George) Chandler Lenzy, Blytheville, Ark., Carolyn (Michael) Chandler Middlebrook, Blytheville, Ark. and Marie Chandler Doss, Little Rock, Ark.; brother, Jeff Chandler, Osceola, Ark.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
