Rand M. White, 67, of Milan, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at his home.  A Celebration of Rand's Life  will be held from 11:00 to 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday at the Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 4th Ave E., Milan.  Immediately following, graveside services with military honors will be held at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.  Those wishing to attend graveside services should meet at Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home, Milan by 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.  There will also be a Memorial Gathering held at the Milan American Legion, 515 1st Ave W, Milan from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday.  Memorials may be made in care of the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan or Disabled Veterans 

Rand was born on January 24, 1950 in Rock Island, the son of Kenneth M. and Mary M. (Collins) White.  He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1968 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.  Later, Rand studied land surveying and engineering at Black Hawk College and the University of Illinois Chicago.  Rand was employed by the U.S. Government Corps. of Engineers and the by Rock Island Arsenal as  a drawbridge groundsman / mechanic.

Rand was a loving son who was the primary caregiver for his mother for 3 years prior to her death.  For his caring devotion to his mother, his sisters are forever grateful.  Rand enjoyed fishing, reading, music and gardening.  He was very proud of being named a Master Gardener Intern, in 2012.

Left to cherish his memory are his sisters; Rosemary (Ralph) Dresel, Las Vegas, NV and Jeanne (Marty) Dettner, Fulton; nieces, Elaine Dettner, Iowa City and Erica Dressel, Las Vegas, NV; nephews, Bob Dettner, Fulton and Dustin Dressel, Boston, MA, as well as many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents
