Robert Andrew McGee, 68, of Rock Island passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017 under hospice care at his sister's home in Moline.  Funeral services for Robert will be 11:00am Friday at Second Baptist Church, 919 6th Ave., Rock Island.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.  to 7:00 p.m Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Burial with military honors will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.  Memorials may be made in care of the family. 

Robert was born on September 17, 1948 in Rock Island, a son of William and Rebie (Fleming) McGee.  He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1965.  Robert was a proud U.S. Army veteran and served his country in the Vietnam War.  Robert married Rosemary Smith on April 23, 1977 in Rock Island.  She passed away on November 17, 2010. 

Robert had worked at Oscar Meyer for over 20 years as an inspector.  He was very fond of his Oscar Meyer family.  In earlier years, Robert had worked at Readmore Book World and Osha Chemical, Davenport.

Robert loved to eat and was famous for his banana pudding.  He cherished all of the time he spent with his family, especially his many nieces and nephews.  He also enjoyed spending time with his cats.

Survivors include his siblings, James McGee, Jacquelyn (David) Carpenter, Linda Moore, Debra Ann (Jimmie) Thornton, Joyce (Herman) Jackson, Connie Payne, Willie McGee; lifelong friends, Fred Hannah and Russell Stokes; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and his Oscar Meyer family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary; his parents and a brother, Michael McGee
