Robert K. Ringoen, 74, of Reynolds, died Monday, January 22, 2018 at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:30 p.m. Thursday, January 25 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 26 at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow the services Friday at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Monmouth, Ill. at 12:30 p.m. Memorials may be made in care of the Reynolds American Legion Post 1166.
Robert was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota on May 27, 1943, a son of Kermit and Ruby Struck Ringoen. He married Elizabeth “Ann” Thompson on August 5, 1977 at St. Patrick’s Church in rural Raritan, Ill.
Robert was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during Vietnam.
He worked as a diesel engine mechanic for 30 plus years for Hicklin GM Power Company, Milan, Interstate Detroit Diesel, Davenport and Tennant Trucking, Inc. in Orion.
Robert enjoyed volunteering at the Reynolds American Legion Post 1166. He enjoyed doing yardwork, taking walks, working on the Reynolds American Legion playground, gardening and spending time with his family, including his grand and great-grandchildren. Robert was an avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth “Ann” Ringoen, Reynolds; daughters, Sonia (John) Enderby, Olathe, Ks., Heidi Carr, Reynolds, Ill. and Kristin (Matt) Dean, St. Charles, Ill.; grandchildren, Alaina, Isaiah, Dalton, Jackson, Henry and George; great-grandson, Keean; one great-granddaughter on the way; siblings, Jean Nelson, Iowa, Shirley (Terril) DeBerg, Iowa, Sherri (Richard) Carpenter, Minn., John “Jack” Ringoen, Wisc. and Mark Ringoen, Minn.; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; and many in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Marvin and Ronald, sister-in-law, Jeanie Ringoen and brother-in-law, Bob Nelson.
