William J. Ethington

William J. Ethington, 63, of Sherrard, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019. Services for Bill will be 12 pm, Tuesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be from 10 am to the time of the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Alleman High School or to Matherville Intermediate School.

William was born on October 21, 1955 in Rock Island, a son of Raymond and Marilyn Hanrahan Ethington. He married Susan Fischer Smith on May 6, 1989 in Milan. Bill worked as the operations manager at Johannes Bus Service, Rock Island and Illinois Central School Bus Co. He most recently was a school bus driver for the Sherrard School District. Bill enjoyed tutoring and mentoring students in the Matherville School District. He was also an avid reader and home remodeler. Bill was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Susan; father, Raymond Ethington, Rock Island; daughters, Christine Voita, Peoria, Ariz., Jennifer (Cameron) Dewaele, Waddell, Ariz.; eight cherished grandchildren; siblings, Keith (Sheena) Ethington, Virginia Beach, Va., Tracy Hart, Rock Island, Mike (JoBeth) Ethington, Rock Island, Jane Scarsdale, Weatherford, Texas and Scott (Michelle) Papillion, Neb.
