William H. Phelps

William H. Phelps, 95, of Silvis, passed away Friday August 18, 2017 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.

Graveside services will 11am Saturday in the chapel at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, with Military Honors by East Moline American Legion Post 227.

Memorials may be left to Active Day Adult Day Center, Moline.

Bill was born in Seymour, Iowa on November 17, 1921, the son of Cecil Phelps and Leta Rockwell Phelps. He married Shirley Sherer on January 2, 1943 in St. Louis, Mo. Shirley passed away in 2012.

Bill graduated from Rock Island High School. He was World War II Veteran, in the Army Air Corps.

After being discharged from the military, he worked as a plumber pipefitter with the former Farmall, Rock Island until his retirement.

William will be greatly missed by his; three daughters, Peggy (Kenneth) Laud, East Moline, Theresa Daniel, Moline, and Carol (Walter) Schweiss, Taylor Ridge; son, Michael (Ginger) Phelps, Davenport; grandchildren, Bill Schweiss, Cedar Rapids, Victoria Spevak, Silvis, Josh (Jillian) Kennedy, Colona, Kevin (Tracy) Wilcox, Moline, Laurie (Kara) Wilcox, Moline, and Andrew (Elizabeth) Phelps, Bourbonnais. Great-grandchildren include Matthew Whelan, Austin Whelan, Nathan Whelan, Brooklyn Wilcox, Tyler Griffin, Avery Kennedy, Maddux Kennedy, Brooks Kennedy and Zoey Phelps.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 3 sisters and an infant son, Billy Lee Phelps.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Illini Restorative Care for the care and attention they gave our father during his stay with them.
