Winnie was born May 28, 1924 to Peter H. and Winifred (Kelly) Kale. She married Lessing Siegel in 1977 who preceded her in death in 1992.

After graduating from St. Joseph High School, Rock Island in 1942 she initially followed in her mother’s footsteps attending nursing school at the University of Iowa, later graduating from Marycrest College in 1957. She then pursued a career in social work earning her master degree in that field from St. Louis University in 1959. This led to a job with the Illinois Department of Public Aid, eventually advancing to a federal government position where she directed a multi-state district for federal child support enforcement before retiring in 1989.

Winnie loved to travel all over the US and the world. Also she had a long time love of nature; an avid bird watcher and observing and identifying the flowers wherever she visited. She remained devoted to her church wherever she lived, attending daily mass until shortly before her death. She enjoyed theatre and classical music very much while living in Chicago.

She is survived by her devoted sister, Margaret Neir-Fleskes. She was predeceased by brothers William Kale, John Kale and Joseph Kale; and one sister Mary (Kale) Scheck. There are many, many nieces and nephews to remember her.
