| John N. Downey, Sr. 84 of Toulon, IL formerly of Milan, died Tuesday, Feb. 19 at Toulon Health Care Center. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. till service time. Burial will be at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or the Alzheimers Association.
Mr. Downey was born November 23, 1923 in Muscatine, IA, the son of John and Eva Mae Prather Downey. He married LaVonn Clark, April 1, 1961. She died June 21, 1975. John farmed in rural Milan until 1977, he also worked for Priester Construction for many years before retiring in 1989. He loved antiquing.
Survivors and spouses include, daughters, Diana and Rick Krueger, Muscatine, Pam and Steve Kinnamon, Texas, Laura and Gary Rodgers, Silvis, Wanda and LeRoy Evans-Haessler, Davenport, Eva Frank, Davenport; sons, Norman Petersen, Milan and John Downey, Jr., Cambridge, IL; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded by a grandson, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
