Robert B. Chatterson, 85, of Rock Island, died Monday, June 9, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Private family graveside services will be Thursday at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be presented by American Legion Posts 200 and 569 and V.F.W. Post 1303. There is no visitation. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
Mr. Chatterson was born on January 9, 1923, in Clinton, Iowa, a son of Benjamin F. and Pearl Laycox Chatterson. He married Evelyn M. Beer 58 years ago in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Bob was an accountant for Advance Homes in Bettendorf for many years. He retired in 1988.
He was a Word War II U.S. Army veteran. Bob was a member of the Rock Island American Legion Post 200 and a founding member of the World War II Memorial Foundation. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and James Riggs, Las Vegas, NV, Jane and Dr. Patrick Cunningham, Rock Island; sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin and Joyce Chatterson, Montgomery Village, Md and Steven and Cheryl Kulp, Aurora, Ill.; grandchildren, Brian Cunningham and his wife, Julie, Casey Cunningham, Haley and Ryan Kulp and Sarah and Robert Chatterson and great-grandchildren, Jana Kulp and Evelyn Cunningham. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and a sister.
