| Vern A. “Bus” Bleuer, 55, of Rock Island, died Wednesday July 23, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
A Memorial service has been rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2008, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial fund to be designated at a later date.
Vern A. Bleuer was born July 11, 1953 in Portsmouth, VA, a son of Harold “Squirt” Bleuer and Audrey Granger Bleuer. He was married to Denise M. Nixon. They were married on February 25, 1972 in Rock Island.
“Bus” was employed by the City of Rock Island, Public Works Dept. He retired earlier this year following 36 years of service to the city. He was an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed hunting and camping.
Survivors include Denise M. Nixon; Rock Island; children, Shawn M. Bleuer, Rock Island, Samantha N. Bleuer, and her special friend, Isaac Harrington, Rock Island; grandchildren, Kim A. Huff II, Austin N. Huff, and Devin T.W. Carlson; mother and father, Harold “Squirt” and Audrey Bleuer, Okeechobee, FL, brothers and sisters (and spouses), Ann (Randy) Bowser, Rock Island, Mark (Sue) Bleuer, Sherrard, Susan (Randy) Parker, Moline, Janet Bleuer-Drish, Moline, and Nicholas Bleuer, Rock Island; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
His grandparents preceded him in death.
