| John W. Welsh, 82, of Rock Island, died Saturday, September 20, 2008 at his home.
Private services were Wednesday at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, was in charge of arrangements.
John was born on December 23, 1925 in Matherville, a son of Lester and Gertrude Flaherty Welsh.
He was a WW II U.S. Navy veteran.
There are no immediate survivors. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.
