Doyle F. Heather, 93, of Rock Island, died Monday, November 03, 2008 at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. today at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Mausoleum, Rock Island. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to service time today. Memorials may be made to Two Rivers United Methodist Church, Rock Island or to the Benevolent Fund at Friendship Manor, Rock Island. Doyle was born on July 3, 1915 in Ottumwa, Iowa, a son of Gordon and Florence Pohlman Heather. He married Gladys Young on August 31, 1940 in Ottumwa. He worked as a warehouseman for the Shell Oil Co., Bettendorf for 30 years. He retired in 1978. Doyle was a member of Two Rivers United Methodist Church, Rock Island, Masonic Lodge 16 A.F. & A.M., Ottumwa and the Moline Elks. He was also a member of the Rock Island Golden K Kiwanis Club, AARP and the QC Times Plus 60. Survivors include his wife, Gladys; son and daughter-in-law, David D. and Irene Heather, Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; grandchildren, Amy Campbell and her husband, Gary, Jackson, Wis., Terrel Heather, Durham, NC, Mark Heather, Madison, Wis., Erin Heather, Madison, Wis. and Matthew Heather, Palm Beach, Fl; and great- grandchildren, Allison Doyle Campbell and Heather Grace Campbell, both of Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Donnalee and Bette.
