Claude W. Miller, 75, of Taylor Ridge, IL, died Thursday November 27, 2008 at Rock Island Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Services are 1:30 p.m Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Claude was born May 13, 1933 in Oakwood, IL, a son of Otto Miller and Rebekah Stuebe Miller. He married Janet S. Lessig on April 29, 1955 in Martinsville, IN. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement, he worked for many years for McLaughlin Body Co. Together, he and his brother also owned and operated Miller’s Auction Service for many years. Claude was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed auctioneering, working on cars and tractors. He was a good father and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Janet, of Romeoville, formerly of Taylor Ridge; children (and spouses), Dean Miller, East Moline, Cheryl Miller, Rock Island, Charlene (Rich) Stalnaker, Eldridge, IA, and Charla (Mark) Pond, Romeoville, IL; 10 grandchildren; 1 Great granddaughter; brothers and sisters, Roy (Deloris) Miller, East Moline, Ava Brown, Ft. Worth, TX, Ed Miller, Paris, TX, and Oscar Miller, Aurora, CO; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Preceding him in death were his parents.
