| Samuel Louis Talley, 57, of Rock Island, died Wednesday December 10, 2008 at his home.
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. No visitation is planned. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated later.
Samuel was born July 29, 1951 in Paducah, KY, a son of John Henry Talley, Jr. and Lois Young Talley. He was a contractor for many years for various construction companies in California.
He loved fishing, playing dominoes, and working on cars. He most enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are his longtime companion, Diana Payne, Macomb, IL; stepchildren, Kevin Payne, Des Moines, IA, and Mandy Mata, East Moline, IL; step granddaughter, Ashlyn Payne, Macomb; mother, Lois Talley Johnson, Rock Island; sisters, Peggy Pemberton, Rock Island, Felisita Wetherall, and her husband Richard, Milwaukee, Lenora N. Talley, Houston, TX, Judith Ndubisa, Minneapolis, MN; brothers, John Talley, Rock Island, Lawrence E. Talley, CA, Stephon Talley and Anthony Talley, both of Rock Island; stepsisters, Ruby Culberson, Davenport and Ora Harrington, Oklahoma; step brother, Charles Johnson, Jr. , Benton Harbor, MI; one uncle, three aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
His paternal and maternal grandparents, father, stepfather, Charlie Johnson, and sister, Helen Minter, preceded him in death.
