Warren “Jack” Wilkins Sr., 87, of Taylor Ridge, passed away at his home on Sunday December 21, 2008.
Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00p.m., Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
Jack was born on March 30, 1921 in Johnson City, IL, the son of William and Cecil (Lingel) Wilkins. He married Bette Hoteling on January 7, 1945 in Rock Island.
Jack was a World War II US Army Veteran having served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.
Mr. Wilkins had been employed at Frank’s Foundry, Moline for 33 years as a maintenance foreman before his retirement in 1987.
Jack was a avid amateur radio operator for 60 years, his call sign was W9PBZ. He also enjoyed farming and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bette; sons, Warren J. “Jack” Wilkins, Jr., Taylor Ridge, Craig Jeff Wilkins, Rock Island; grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Amanda; great grandchildren, Cora, Cody, Julie; sisters, Margie Madden, Milan and Peggy Chavez, Davenport.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William Jr. and Glenn.
