William S. Hitchcock, 83, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday January 20, 2009 at Rock Island Rehab and Nursing Center. Funeral services will be 1:00p.m., Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family. Following the services at the cemetery there will be a luncheon held by the family. William was born on November 14, 1925 in Davenport, the son of Raymond Miller and Anna Mae Hitchcock. He married Bessie E. Hendricksen on September 19, 1953 in Rock Island. Mr. Hitchcock was a United States Army Air Corp. Veteran. Mr. Hitchcock was retired from Local 309 where he had been a laborer for 40 years. He was a member of AMVETS. William loved to spend time with family and friends. He also enjoyed fast cars and motorcycles, collecting stamps and coins and was an avid reader of Lois Lamar westerns. William is survived by his wife, Bessie, children and spouses, Bill (Judy) Hitchcock, Mike Hitchcock, Anna Hitchcock and Sandy (Mike) Quinn, all of Davenport; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and a cousin, Betty Sprague, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Jerry Wayne Hitchcock.
