Charlotte K. Hanna, 91, a resident of St. Anthony’s Continuing Care Center, Rock Island, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the center. A memorial mass will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2009 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 210 E. 22nd Ave., Coal Valley. Visitation is an hour prior to the service at the church. There will be lunch in the church hall following the service. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island at 3:00 p.m. The celebration of Charlotte’s life will continue at 4:00 p.m. at the Rock Island Elks Lodge, 2117 4th Ave., Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family or to St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, P.O. Box 159, Coal Valley, IL 61240. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island is assisting the family. Charlotte Van Hecke was born on April 26, 1917 in Moline, a daughter of Camille and Elizabeth Salzmann Van Hecke. She married Don Hanna who preceded her in death. Charlotte attended St. Mary’s School in Davenport. She owned and operated with her late husband Don, the El CharMiDo Lounge in South Sioux City, Nebraska in the 60’s. Charlotte and Don retired to Scotland, Arkansas in the early 70’s and returned to Moline in the late 70’s. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, the Rock Island V.F.W. Post 1303 Auxiliary and the Rock Island Lady Elks. In early years she was a member of the Rock Island Boat Club. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Nancy Licata, Largo, Florida; daughters, Patricia “Patti Jo” Wiedner, Moline and Barbara “B.J.” Thomas, Rock Island; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; nine nieces and nephews; and special friend, Elly Bullock, Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; brother, Tommy Van Hecke; and sisters, Dodie Objartyle and Irene Trede.
