| Bobby E. Davis, 81, of Rock Island, Ill., died Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. today at St. James Lutheran Church, 3145 31st Ave., Rock Island. Visitation is 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum, Rock Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. James Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or to the American Cancer Society.
Bobby was born in Mystic, Iowa, on October 2, 1927 to Cora (McFall) Davis and Frank J. Davis.
Drafted into the army in 1946, Mr. Davis served 18 months as an 82nd Airborne paratrooper.
As a longtime member of AFL-CIO and Local 32, Mr. Davis worked over 40 years in the roofing industry. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division Association.
Surviving are his wife, Natalie (Duff) Davis and several nieces. He was preceded in death by nine siblings: Beatrice (Davis) Jones, Thomas Davis, Gertrude (Davis) Stroud, George Davis, Mildred L. (Davis) Kruzich, Gerald “Pat” Davis, Richard Davis, Jessie Davis, and Helen Davis.
