Elinor O. Kelly, 87, of Rock Island, died Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center, 7th Street Campus, Moline. Funeral services are 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation is 4 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral Home. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Those wishing to attend should meet by 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rock Island. Elinor Maro was born on August 8, 1922 in Rock Island, a daughter of Phillip and Josephine Dino Maro. She married Vernon W. Kelly on March 20, 1953 in Kahoka, Mo. He died on Feb. 20, 1976. She worked at the Servus Rubber Co. and at McCabe’s Department Store, both of Rock Island. Elinor was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rock Island. She enjoyed music and loved to sing and sang many years with Al Koeller. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David W. and Karen Kelly, Wheaton, Ill.; granddaughters, Elizabeth and Theresa Kelly, both of Wheaton; sister, Frances Holtzer, Rock Island; nieces, Jody Bane, Rock Island and Barbara Ryckaert, Taylor Ridge; nephew, Nick Maro, Moline; sister-in-law, Betty (Merlin) Platt and family, Davenport; brothers-in-law, Al (Sue) Kelly and William Kelly and families, Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Nick Maro; and sisters, Josephine, Camille and Anna Maro and Mary Pollaro.
