| Kirk L. Pobanz, 51, of Davenport, formerly of Rock Island, passed away Monday September 21, 2009 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.
A memorial service will be 5p.m., Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00pm., Friday at the funeral home.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a favorite charity or student hunger drive.
Kirk was born on August 2, 1958 in Moline, the son of Paul L. and Susan (Crossman) Pobanz.
Mr. Pobanz was a graduate of Alleman High School Class of 76, Scott Community College and later Blackhawk College receiving a Associate Degree in Science. After completing his Associate Degree he attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale where he earned a Bachelor degree in Science and later received his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, MS.
He had been employed as a chemist with Argus Analytical Environmental Science Testing.
He was a member of the University of Southern Mississippi Alumni Association.
Survivors include his son and daughter in law, Paul and Jesica Pobanz, TN; parents Paul and Susan Pobanz, Rock Island; grandchildren, Peyton and Kameron; sister and brother in law, Katrina and Chris Reger, Rock Island, brothers, Keith, Karl, Ken, Kris Pobanz, of Rock Island, Ky Pobanz, Colona and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
