Interment: Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island, Ill.

Genitee E. Eskew Moore, 92, of Rock Island, died Friday, October 9, 2009 at the Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Two Rivers United Methodist Church, 1820 5th Ave., Rock Island. Burial is at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Music Department of Two Rivers United Methodist Church. Genitee Eskew was born on July 13, 1917 in Sikeston, MO., the fifth of eight children born to Aaron A. and Mayme C. Page Eskew. She and her family moved to Rock Island in 1929. Gen was educated in the Rock Island Public Schools and graduated from Rock Island High School in 1935. She married Clarence Edgar “Ed” Moore on June 10, 1941 and they made Rock Island their home for the rest of their lives. Gen worked at the old St. Anthony’s Hospital eventually moving on to Franciscan Hospital, where she retired after 25 years of employment. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church (now Two Rivers United Methodist Church) in Rock Island, where she was actively involved, at one time, in Keystone Class, sewing circle, teaching Sunday school and serving on various committees. She was also a member of King’s Daughters. She is survived by daughters, Linda (Michael) Denoma, Lake Elmo, Minn. and Lorey Hillyer, Rock Island; grandchildren, Brent Denoma, Laura Malcolm and Leanna (Joel) Koepp; great grandchildren, Zack and Kyla Denoma; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Ed Moore; her parents; brother, Roy; sisters, Opal Eskew, Pearl Hunter, Geneva Drennen, Gwen Sajak, Billie Eggers and Ruth Ann Hanson; and son-in-law, Richard A. Hillyer.
