Linda L. Johnson, 52, of Rock Island, died Sunday, November 15, 2009 at her home. Memorial services for Ms. Johnson will be 11 am Wednesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Memorial visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Private inurnment service will be held at a later date in the West Liberty Cemetery, Montezuma, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family or to Easter Seals Foundation. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201-E. 4th Avenue, Milan is assisting the family with the arrangements. Linda was born February 11, 1957 in Rock Island, the daughter of Lee Stropes and Ellen Marie Clayton Stropes. Linda was raised by her Dad, Ollie Phelps. She married Maynard Johnson in November 10, 1973 in Rock Island. Linda worked at the Eagle Food Stores for 27 years retiring as the department head and purchaser of the liquor department. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, traveling, collecting precious glass and spending time with her grandchilden. Survivors include her parents, Ellen and Ollie Phelps, Rock Island; father, Lee Stropes, Barefoot Bay, Florida; children and their spouses, Brad and Deanna Johnson, Davenport, Kari and Donnie White, Fishers, IN, Desireé and Eric Samples, Fishers, IN; sisters, Debra Mortz, Rock Island, Kathie Holt, Rock Island, Tina Maas, Eliza, Sandra Hollon, Milan and Kellie Erritt, Davenport.
