Douglas R. Manary, 46, of Coal Valley, IL, died Wednesday December 16, 2009, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island. Memorial services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Milan. Inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, IL. Memorials may be made to his children’s educational fund to be established at Southeast National Bank, Moline. Douglas was born October 28, 1963, in Rock Island, a son of Harold Manary Sr. and Janet E. Miller Manary. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1981. He received his Bachelors degree from University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, IA, and his Masters degree from Iowa State University, Ames, IA. He married Nancy J. Griggs on August 5, 1989 in Milan, IL. Douglas owned and operated Manary’s LLC, Moline, and Doug’s Vending Service. Previously, he worked for the Army Corps of Engineers, Arsenal Island, for 6 years. He enjoyed being with his family and friends, especially his children. Surviving are his wife, Nancy, Coal Valley; children, Elizabeth, Zachary, and Sarah Manary, all of Coal Valley; mother, Janet Manary, Milan; brothers (and spouses), Harold (Judy) Manary Jr., West Des Moines, IA, David (Wendy) Manary, Milan, and Curt (Angela) Manary, Moline; many nieces and nephews; father and mother-in-law, Albert and Marilyn Griggs, Colona; brothers and sister-in-law, David (Robyn) Griggs, Taylor Ridge, Karen Wisely, Moline, and Gary (Dawn) Griggs, Cave Springs, AR. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, father, and brother-in-law, Daniel Griggs.
