John J. Mitchell, 42, of Colona, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood. Services for John will be 10 am, Monday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030-7th Avenue, Rock Island. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-6 pm, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Living Lands and Waters, 17624 Rt. 84 N., East Moline, IL. or to a favorite charity. John was born on November 21, 1967 in Silvis, the son of Mark B. Mitchell and Suzanne Faur Mitchell. John was a 1986 graduate from Geneseo High School. He worked 16 years at East Moline Metal Products and was currently in sales. John was an avid fisherman. He especially enjoyed fishing for bass and trout. John was a fan of stock car racing, fantasy football, NFL Football and the Chicago Bears. He enjoyed vacationing at the family home in Hayward, Wisconsin. Survivors include his mother, Suzanne; twin brother, James Mitchell, Colona; sister, Christine Ochsner, Rock Island; a niece, Jessica; nephews, Austin and Brian; aunts and uncles, Judith and Michael Wallaert, Moline, Robert and Mabel Mitchell, Moline; cousins, Tom Wallaert, Katie and her husband, Patrick Galvin and their children, Michael and Elizabeth. John was preceded in death by his father, Mark B. Mitchell; paternal grandparents, Jack and Eleanor Mitchell; maternal grandparents, Sigmund and Eleanor Smyk. John was a great friend to all that knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and will never be forgotten. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.wheelanpressly.com
