Walter W. Brasmer, 78, of Milan, died Monday March 22, 2010 at Trinity Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 10:00am Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the National Cemetery Rock Island, with Military Honors by American Legion Post #569/200 and VFW 1303. Memorials may be made to Milan Lions Club.
Walter was born on April 13, 1931 in Rock Island, the son of John and Albertha (Carrington) Brasmer. He married the former Marion C. Ringer on October 23, 1954 in Milan.
Mr. Brasmer was employed as a Mill Operator at the former International Harvester Works, Moline where he retired after 30 years in 1981. Also during this time, he owned and operated the Milan Bait Shop in Milan, IL.
Mr. Brasmer was a former member of Rock Island Conservation Club and previously had been a Coyne Center Volunteer firefighter. Walter enjoyed bowling at Milan Lanes, Milan, fishing, hunting, gardening and canning vegetables from his garden.
Survivors include his children, David (Doris) Brasmer, Kimerly Brasmer, Daniel (Beth) Brasmer, all of Milan; grandchildren, Theodore “TJ”, Tabitha, Kara, Jacob, Shelby and sister, Dora (John) Liphardt, Taylor Ridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bert Brasmer.
