Joan M. McAdams, 88, of Moline passed away Wednesday April 7, 2010 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Services will be 10:30a.m., Friday at All Saints Episcopal Church in the Riverside Life Center, 2420 – 41st Street, Moline. Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00pm Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to IPTV Iowa Public Television.
Joan was born on November 7, 1921 in Croydon, England, the daughter of Charles E. and Grace E. (Foster) Doddrell. She married Mac McAdams on July 21, 1943 in Streatham, London, England.
Mrs. McAdams was employed as a Librarian, book keeper and interim Director for the Rock Island Public Library for over 20 years until her retirement in 1983.
She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, Moline, E.C.W. Episcopal Church Women and the friends of Rock Island Public Library. Joan also served England in the Royal Air Force during WWII in the “WAAF” Women’s Aux. Air Force.
Survivors include her husband, Mac; children and spouses, Victoria(Gregory) Tetter, Melva(Thomas) Sterlacci, Michael(Jean) McAdams; grandchildren, Scott McAdams, Kevin McAdams, Katherine Silvis, Lisa Sementa, Michael Coleman, Steven Tetter, Steven Sterlacci; 2 step grandchildren, Doug Anderson, Kristi Connelly and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jennifer Crompton.
