Frances E. “Frannie” Johnson, 80, of Rock Island, died Saturday May 29, 2010, at Trinity, Rock Island.
Services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. today at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Memorials may be made to either St. Pius X Church or to Alleman High School.
Frances was born July 1, 1929 in Centerville, IA, a daughter of Frank and Anna Angaran. She married Paul F. “Olie” Johnson on July 5, 1952, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1998.
She was employed with Service Rubber Co., Rock Island, for several years.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she was very active with volunteer activities at St. Pius X Church, where she was a member, St. Pius X grade school, and Alleman High School, Rock Island. Her involvements and memberships included the Altar & Rosary Society, Friends Circle Group 4, Alleman High School Booster Club, and Alleman High School Hall of Fame.
In recognition of her dedication and service, she received the Pere Marquette Award from the Peoria Diocese and the I.H.S.A. Volunteer Award.
She enjoyed her many activities and service to her church. She also served funeral luncheons for many years at Farrell Hall.
Surviving are her children (and spouses), Mark (Linda) Johnson, Champaign, IL, Jeff (Ann) Johnson, Ottawa, IL, Gregg Johnson, Chicago, IL; and “Olie” Paul (Mary) Johnson, Jr., Rock Island; grandchildren, Tricia, Mackey, Jessica, Laura, Alaina, Lindsey (Zach Honert), Kelsey, Hayley, and Abbey Johnson; great grandson, Kelly; sisters, Carolyn Wilkerson, Moline, Angie Tripodi, Chicago, and Margaret Ruboulet, Dayton, OH; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Fran is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Joe and Jack Angaran, and sisters, Marie Koziol, Jennie Matkovich, Annie Sovicki, and Esther Angaran.
