William F. Geiger, 84, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline. Private graveside services are Friday at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal, where military honors will be presented by American Legion Posts 569 and 200 and VFW Post 1303. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan. Mr. Geiger was born on May 28, 1926 in Rock Island, the son of William L. and Irene M. Teschke Geiger. He married Elizabeth D. M. Cooke on January 4, 1947 in Tidworth, England. Bill worked as an industrial specialist at the Rock Island Arsenal for over 35 years before his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran of both WW II and the Korean Conflict. Bill was a member of the Milan American Legion Post 569 and Rock Island VFW Post 1303. He was also a member of the 99th Infantry Division Assoc. and 1st Cavalry Division Assoc. Bill was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; sons and daughter-in-law, James W. Geiger, Milan and Paul F. and Kris Geiger, Milan; grandchildren, Luke Geiger, Rock Island, Cole Geiger, Moline and Stephanie Geiger, Milan; and his sister, Elaine Madsen, Sacramento, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents.
