| Gerald B. Strayer, 73, of Milan, died Sunday, July 25, 2010 at his home.
Graveside services will be 10 am, Thursday at the Rock Island National Cemetery,
Arsenal Island, where military rites will be conducted. Those wishing to attend the cemetery services should meet at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030-7th Avenue, Rock Island by 9:30am. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 pm at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan of to a favorite charity.
Gerald was born September 15, 1936 in Moline, the son of John Strayer and Grace Quigg Strayer. He married Dorothy Frank on May 28, 1960 in Rock Island. Mr. Strayer was a truck driver and had worked for Quest Liner Trucking before retiring in 2006. Earlier he had worked at International Harvester Farmall Works, Rock Island. He was an avid reader. Gerald was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Milan. He was a US Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; son and spouse, Tom and Karleen Strayer,
daughter, Theresa Strayer; grandchildren, Leah and Emily; brother, Jim Strayer; sister, Jean Chapman; several nieces and nephews.
