Thomas J. Miller, 85, of Milan, passed on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010 at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Andalusia. Burial is at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. There is no visitation. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Andalusia or America Cancer Society.
Thomas Joseph Miller was born on Dec. 14, 1924 in Rock Island, a son of Stephen L. and Mary E. Naab Miller. He married Ina Mae Hingstrum on Aug. 3, 1946 in Rock Island. She died June 10, 1997.
Mr. MIller began his working career at the Container Corporation of America, Rock Island. He then founded with his late wife, Ina Mae, Miller Container Corporation, followed by Pinnacle Stanrick Corp.
He was a W.W. II U.S. Navy veteran. Tom was well known for raising and showing his Draft horses.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Lisa Miller, Milan and Richard and Jama Miller, Sherrard; grandchildren, Mary Kate Miller, Thomas J. Miller, Dr. Cameron Miller, Zach Miller and Taylor Miller; sister-in-law, Elaine Miller, Longmont, Colo.; his cherished friend, Bert Johnson, Milan; numerous other friends and relatives; and his faithful dog and companion, Charley. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ina Mae; sister, Maryrose Aring; and brothers, Stephen and Charles Miller.
