Jean K. Franck, 90, of Rock Island, died Saturday October 9, 2010, at Trinity, Rock Island.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Broadway Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, with a luncheon to follow. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. No visitation is planned prior to services; arrangements are through Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Memorials may be made to either Broadway Presbyterian Church or to a favorite charity.
Jean was born April 20, 1920, in Rock Island, the daughter of Walter H. Krick and Cornelia Andrews Krick. She married Howard W. Franck on February 17, 1945, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1998. In addition to being a homemaker, Jean was a bookkeeper for her husband’s pharmacy and also with McGladrey Accounting for many years.
She was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church, where she was a former elder and choir member. Other memberships include Presbyterian Women and Chapter GQ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was an avid reader and had been a volunteer in the tutoring program at Lincoln School. She enjoyed her wide circle of friends and played bridge for many years.
Survivors include her son, John W. Franck, and his fiancée Paula Moore, Atlanta, GA; daughter-in-law, Hester Franck, Jackson, MS; granddaughter, Allie Mae Franck, Atlanta; sister-in-law, Carol Franck, Rock Island.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, James A. Franck. Jean loved life, yet looked forward to being in the hands of God with her departed family. |
