Irene R. Jozefiak, 88, of Chicago, died Saturday, December 11, 2010.
She was the devoted wife of the late Leo; loving mother of Anita, Marie (Robert) Anderson, Arlene (George) O'Neill, Rev. Matthew, C.PP.S., Rev. Gregory of Rock Island and the late Mary; dearest grandmother of Eric, Matthew and Jane Anderson; fond sister of Lorraine and Dr. Ernest; and loving Goddaughter, Ramona; also many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 13, with a Rosary at 7 PM at the Modell Funeral Home, 5725 S Pulaski Rd., Chicago. On Tuesday, December 14, visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, with Mass at 11 AM, also at the Modell Funeral Home. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
Irene was born in central Minnesota in 1922 the 13th of 14th children of Valentine and Rose. After graduating high school and beauty school, she worked as a beautician until 1949 when she married Leo and moved to Chicago. Before her move to the Joliet area 5 years ago, she was an active member of Queen of the Universe Parish, where she served as a lector and the daily Mass song leader. Both Irene and Leo were committed to Catholic education. Their five children have spent a combined 66 years in Catholic schools.
In lieu of flowers or Masses, the family would appreciate memorials be made to Jordan Catholic School or Alleman High School.
