Carmel T. Meyer, 78, of Moline, died Tuesday July 13, 2010, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rock Island. Entombment will be at Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to V.A. Medical Center, Iowa City, IA.

Carmel was born January 27, 1932, in Baltimore, MD, a daughter of Joseph C. Meisel and Elizabeth A. Henning Meisel. She married Kenneth J. Meyer on October 4, 1952, in Mineral Wells, Texas. He preceded her on June 15, 2007. Carmel was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rock Island. She loved being outdoors, gardening and animals, especially birds.

Surviving are her children (and spouses), Jerome F. Meyer, Rock Island, Stephen J. (Debra) Meyer, Davenport, Betty A. (Richard) Olson, Davenport, and Robert J. (Cindy) Meyer, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Chad (Karli) Meyer, Janel (Jason) Dowdal, Christina Meyer, Eric Meyer (fiancé, Kara Huggart), Jennifer Meyer, Michelle Meyer, and Holly Meyer; great-grandchldren, Ebony and Cory Meyer, Connor and Gavin Dowdal, and Morgan Meyer; brothers and sisters, Joseph Meisel Jr., Elizabeth Jacum, John Meisel, Frances Meisel, and Mary Pinkas, all of Baltimore; sister-in-law, Loretta Meyer, Rock Island; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Her parents, husband, and sister, Anna Scheuerman, preceded her in death.
