Pat Kehoe was born on Dec 28, 1942 in Rock Island, the daughter of Charles Kehoe and Estella Kopp Kehoe. She graduated from Alleman High School in 1960 and attended business school. After finishing school she was employed by Dohrn Transfer Company as a key punch operator. She was later employed by Safeco Insurance for 31 years as a claims processing specialist. After her retirement she worked part time at Catholic Charities in Rock Island as a receptionist.
Pat was a life time member of St Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island until its closing. She currently was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. At St Joseph’s she was the director of the RCIA program for many years and was also a Eucharistic Minister and a altar server. She was on the liturgy committee and participated in many other activities at her church.
She attended the movie theatre almost every Wednesday with a group of friends from high school and often went out to eat after mass with a group of church friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching TV movies. Being a cat lover, she missed having pets in the last years of her life. Pat was also a very giving person, having given the gift of sight with the donation of her corneas.
Pat is survived by her children Timothy Schmacht (Wanda) of Davenport, Melissa Schmacht, and Christine Schmacht of Rock Island, grandson Ryan Means, step-grandchildren Patricia West (Trent), Andrew Magadan (Tameka) and Ashlee Hillyer (Dallas). There are 10 step-great-grandchildren; siblings Thomas Kehoe (Joanne) of Rock Island, Katy Young of Moline, Steve Kehoe (Margi) of Rock Island; brother-in-law Glenn Shackelford (Wanda) of Moline and many nieces, nephews and cousins, and an aunt, Betty Murphy of Moline. She will also be deeply missed by her good friend, Virginia Harmon of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Joan Shackelford, and Mary Hardin who passed away on July 30, 2010. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.wheelanpressly.com
She requested special thanks to her Dr. B. Reddy for his many years of care and concern.
|Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph's Eveing Meal Site or to St. Pius X Catholic Church. |
Pat was such a good person. She was part of one of the best groups of people that I have been privileged to work with. I don't think there was anything that she didn't know and she handled problems so seamlessly that I would forget how big a problem it was. I am so happy that I got to spend the time working with her that I did. Rest in God's arms, Pat!

I too was blessed to have worked with Pat for many years during the American States era. She was always willing to help, answer questions, and so much fun to talk with and laugh about our daily adventures both business and personal. Heaven has another angel.
