| David M. Ehlers, 55, of Milan, died Saturday August 21, 2010, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, following a lengthy illness, he courageously fought. A memorials service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rock Island, where visitation will be one hour prior to services. Memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, is assisting with arrangements. David was born November 5, 1954, in Rock Island, a son of John “Bud” Ehlers and Betty Ann Pederson Ehlers. He had been married to Sherri Brothers, and later was married Eva Ann Horwedel for a time. David was a mechanic for many years, working with his father at Ehlers Skelly and Towing, Rock Island. He loved to fix cars and autobody repair. His sons and grandchildren were the joy of his life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all. Survivors include his children and their companions, Curtis Ehlers and Adriene Hall, Rock Island, and Jeffrey Ehlers and Katie Johnson, Milan; grandchildren, Jeremy and Dakota Ehlers; brother (and sister-in-law), John (Kris) Ehlers, Estill Springs, Tenn.; sisters (and brothers-in-law), Nancy (Charles) Guerdet, Edgington, IL, and Pat (Mike) Householder, Moline; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. David is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Eric Edward Ehlers. | |

Jeff and Curt, I am so sorry for your loss. I once had the privilege of meeting David, and his smile and laugh were so genuine, I wish I could have known him better.
