| Deloris F. Simmons, 80, of Rock Island, died Sunday September 5, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held at2:00PM, Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be from 12 Noon to service time at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rock Island V.F.W. 1303, St. Matthew Lutheran Church, or Quad-city Kidney Center. Deloris was born April 6, 1930, in Casper, WY, a daughter of Raymond Wacker and Emma Albert Wacker. She graduated from Hartley, IA High school. She married Harold Simmons in 1951. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1968. Deloris worked many years at various Milan area businesses, retiring from Bonnets, Milan in 1995. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Milan. She enjoyed being with family and friends, crocheting, crafts, playing bingo and attending the monthly breakfast at the Rock Island V.F.W. Survivors include her children (and spouses), Allen (Kathryn) Simmons, Flaherty, KY, Gail (Wally) Kyser, Henderson, Nev., Bonnie (Mike) Vromann, Milan, Nancy Hammond, Linda Simmons, and Melanie Blake, all of Rock Island, Virgie (Carl) Fetters, Millersburg, Ill; stepson, William H. (Agnes) Simmons, Great Falls, Mont.; son-law, John Mote, East Moline; 23 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; brothers, Forest (Mary) Wacker, Penn., William Wacker, Miss., and Donald(Carol) Wacker, Fla.; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Deloris is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughters, Karen, Christina, Donna; and two grandchildren. | |
